BUILDING YOZMA

Temporary Home
On December 23rd, 2007 Kehillat YOZMA in Modi’in literally made groundbreaking history when the first government-funded, synagogue structure to be given to a non-Orthodox community was placed on the land allocated to YOZMA.

On May 5, 2008, the pre-fab synagogue structure was formally dedicated in a moving ceremony, covered by Israeli and foreign press.

We will be using this prefab structure as our synagogue until we raise the necessary funds to build our permanent sanctuary and community center on the same site.

Permanent Home
In January 2000, the city of Modi'in allocated over an acre of land in a residential neighborhood to YOZMA. However, only in late 2007, have we received the final signature from the Ministry of Interior, assigning all of the land that was allocated to Kehillat YOZMA over seven years ago.

With the launch of Kehillat YOZMA's capital campaign to finance the building of the permanent complex, the planning process for the construction of YOZMA's permanent home has begun. Each element of YOZMA's three-pronged approach - religious services, and formal and informal education -- has a home in the various spaces of the complex.
The closed spaces will include pre-school classrooms, multi-purpose rooms, offices, a library, and a sanctuary/main hall. These are organized around an open internal courtyard, which will serve as both a focus of activities and as a common link to the various other spaces.

We are hoping to break ground on the building of the first two permanent pre-school classrooms by the end of 2008.
