Kehillat
YOZMA thanks YOU
– our friends in Israel and abroad.
Your support enables YOZMA to realize
our hopes and dreams, and those of
Progressive Jews around the world,
here in Israel!
Through your generosity, Reform Judaism
in Israel is becoming a significant
and meaningful force in Israeli society
today. |
On May 5th,
2008, with shofars blowing and flags of
Israel, Modiin, the Movement for Progressive
Judaism and YOZMA flying proudly in the
clear blue sky, the first synagogue
structure to be funded by the Israeli
goverment to a non-Orthodox congregation
- Kehillat YOZMA - was
dedicated.
Hundreds attended the exciting event,
including YOZMA members, Modi'in residents,
families from YOZMA's educational programs
and dignitaries from the city of Modi'in,
from the IMPJ, WUPJ and IRAC who offered
blessings and congratulatory remarks.
During the ceremony, conducted by Executive
Director Yossi Aud and YOZMA's
dedicated building committee chairperson-
Menachem Lan-El, Modi'in's
mayor, Mr. Moshe Spector
joined Rabbis Kinneret Shiryon
and Nir Barkin in affixing
the handmade mezuza to the synagogue entrance,
gratefully reciting the blessing and the
shehechiyanu prayer.
The children of YOZMA's educational system
sang moving renditions of Adon Olam and
Hatikva.
